Okay -

Michelin might have a nerdy 100-year-old fat cartoon guy as their logo, but I'm growing fond of their Pilot Road 2's nonetheless.

I liked their Pilot Powers - had one on the rear and on the front of Little Blue for awhile. The rear gripped forever and tipped-in well, the front was really tippy too. Which I like. But the rear wore kinda fast, and the front not only wore fast, but it scrubbed the shoulders off, which changed the profile, and made turn-in feel very iffy. The shoulders were long gone, the centreline was still all there, and it felt bad to ride.

So I Fitted Pilot Road 2's. They're not quite as tippy, but they're plenty grippy. What's more, The rear now has 4,000 kays on it and counting, with plenty left to go. The front has a couple of rides on it, as well as that little trip to Phillip Island. It looks new. Best of all? The profiles of both tyres are unchanged. No shoulder scrub, no flat-spots from the Island trip. They still feel great, and turn-in evenly. I'm pretty fond of them.

If they can rack up a heap more kays (and I don't see why they shouldn't) before they're down to the wear bars, I'll definitely be going with these tyres again.

I'll keep you updated on they kays they manage to last. Cheers!

I'm not sure what I'm going to get next... I have thought about them. I have just gotten used to the tires I have on and have to say... They hold their own. but only time will tell I've gone through 6 sets of tires at least while I've had the CBR and each time I try something new... So much candy licorice to choose from :P

Mr T, your tyres were always gonna wear fast, they felt like they were made out of toffee! Yet how you wore out the front I'll never know. Spends too much time in the air for that, surely?

As for changing brands/types Roo, I think we're in a similar boat these days...I'm leaning (get it?) more towards long life in my tyres than anything else. They all seem to grip fine. All the same, I try not to make radical changes because then I wind up having to arse around with my suspension to make it all work again. A pain.

Will either go with Pilot Road 2's again (very likely) or possibly try Maxxis Maxxsports.

Bikers and tyres. It's an obsession.
